History of The Beehive Golf Society
The Beehive Golf Society, which is based at Ilford Golf Club, was instigated by Jack Chester the landlord of the local Beehive public house and some of his regulars in November 1955.
Initially you had to drink at the Beehive to be a member but this rule was relaxed and now members are elected by invitation.
The Society is limited to around 50 members and its aim is to promote goodwill and comradeship.
In the early days meetings were mainly away days but for the past 35 years we have been playing on Sunday afternoons at Ilford Golf Club. We thank them for the generosity and hospitality that they have shown us over the years.
To start each year we have an Annual Dinner Dance and then as a climax on Captain's Day (at the end of the year) we invite our ladies again to join us for a meal and dancing.
