The Beehive Guest Day 2007 turned out to be a great success. It was good to see a great turnout and congratulations go to the days main winners Eric Weeks and guest Nigel Smith who won the day, scoring a very respectable 48 points.
Controversy reigned though as 2nd place was given to Ken Lomas and guest when, in something similar to the US Florida State ballot count, handicap chairman Ray Stevens awarded them 47 points, a recount showed only 40 points were scored by the pair. The real 2nd place was handed to Neil Glover with guest Daniel Hewitson who had 47 points. 3rd place went to Stuart Curran and guest Nigel with 45 points.
The par 3's competition was won by Dave Fraser and guest with 16 points.
With Captain Roger Ireton and Ilford Club Captain Ernie Morgan missing from the top table for prizegiving, Eric Mooney once again stepped up to the plate to fill in as temporary Beehive Captain. Chaos ensued. Chants of 'Stand up Eric!' echoed through the halls of the clubhouse and all were treated to something that resembled a Peter Kay stand up night, only Scottish and a LOT smaller.
