The Beehive Golf Society News

Beehive 2008 Captain, Eric Mooney, enjoyed the finale to his Beehive Captaincy. Although losing the final of the 2008 Beehive Knockout Cup to rookie member German Singh on the day, Eric still managed to enjoy the days golf before the evening dinner and dance.

The days events started with the 2008 Beehive Knockout Cup final as well as the Captains Prize taking place. As previously stated, Beehive rookie German Singh beat the 2008 Captain Eric Mooney on the 17th hole to take the Knockout Cup prize. The Captains prize was won by no other than Ilford Golf Club captain Eric Weeks with 37 points in some difficult conditions. It was very close for the top 3 finishers, who all finished with 37 points. Roger Wake taking 2nd place on countback from Neil Glover.

Nearest the Pin was won under suspicious circumstances after the winner, Neil Glover, decided to take the tape measure with him for a few holes so other contestants could'nt measure their efforts. All very dodgy indeed!

The Longest Drive competition was won by Simon Hetherington and the par 3 competition was won by Pete Lawlor (His prize was very apt).

The attention turned from the golf to the dinner and dance for the evening and although the turnout was poor, those that did attend thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the dancing, not to mention the drinking! With the memory of Captain Mooneys previous dinner and dance speech still fresh in the mind, he delivered a somewhat more composed speech than most thought possible.
